Sea Day 3 and 4

We have been at sea for two days after leaving Port Vila and having fun onboard the ship playing Bingo, doing a great 'Behind the Fun tour' today and generally relaxing...

Port Vila, Vanuatu

We arrived into Port Vila on Thursday, July 12th and made our way into the city centre to take a look around. The city is very basic with uneven footpaths and the main highway was constantly fully of cars as we attempted several times to cross over to the other side. We had a good look around purchased some really cheap duty free to take home before heading back to the ship for lunch and an afternoon glass bottom boat cruise across the harbour with an opportunity to do some snorkelling.

Mystery Island, Vanuatu

We woke this morning in a different country and today we are spending the day on an island which is the southern most tip of Vanuatu and it is total deserted, nobody lives on the island as the locals think that it is haunted. We went ashore after breakfast and spent the morning snorkelling and swimming amongst the reef and fish and the experience was amazing. A great day in paradise!

Mare, New Caledonia

We arrived at the island Mare which a small island in the Pacific Ocean. We left the ship by tender to the island and where then taken to Yejele beach for a swim and a snorkel. The beach was amazing with the coral reef so close to shore and swimming in amongst the fish was impressive.

A great sunset as we departed Noumea

Noumea, New Caledonia

We had a great day yesterday and starting to get into the rhythm of cruising, routine without having a routine if that makes sense. We had dinner, followed by a show and then down to the comedy club for a second show.

When we woke we could finally see some land which made looking at the window a bit more interesting. Although yesterday afternoon was quiet choppy and the water looked like what you would imagine to find inside a washing machine.

We pulled up in the cargo terminal as our ship is too large for the regular cruise ship terminal where after breakfast we disembarked to explore what the lovely capital had to offer. The afternoon we have a cheese and wine tour organised.

Day 2 - second Sea Day

Well what an interesting 24 hours since my last post. I thought by now that I would be bored out if my brains but there is so much to do on board that you don't have time to get bored. We have not really done much of the on board activities though, we have spent a lot of time out on the adults only Serenity Deck on these amazing deck chairs for two, reading, snoozing and just watching the wake left behind our ship.

The food is incredible and it is so easy to get tempted by the wonderful smells and delectable offering at each meal time. We have also had several meals in the restaurant for something different and the service is pretty good.

Day 1 - Sea Day

Today is our first full day at Sea as we head towards our first destination of Noumea, New Caledonia. Our first day on the ship was one of exploration working out where everything is and also looking at the many activities on board to determine what we want to do. We set sail on time and we stayed on deck watching Sydney move past us as we headed towards the heads and out to open sea.

The hardest choice so far has been where we are going to eat and what to have, so many choices available and lovely staff and tasty food.

Bon Voyage Sydney

We boarded Carnival Spirit just after 1pm and after checking out our stateroom went for some lunch. Lots of choice for lunch and also a yummy cocktail to kick start our holiday. We have had a busy afternoon unpacking our bags into the copious amount of storage space available in our room, checking out the ship and what is onboard. Before relaxing on the Serenity Deck with our second cocktail watching the ferries come and go. I don't think we are going to get bored over the next 10 days.

Carnival Spirit Cruise

Hi again

We are off again on another expedition and this time we are going to discover cruising... our first cruise and we have heard many stories so it will be interesting to see how this goes and who knows it may be the start of many more cruises in the future.

I have included some links in case anyone is interested in following our journey as access to the internet while we are away is going to be limited.

This link shows our ships location and information about the ship etc.
